Uruguayan beef exports rise in April

Uruguayan beef exports reached 27,408 tonnes worth US$85.53 million in April, up 11 percent and 33 percent on-year respectively, according to the World Beef Report. 

From January to April, beef exports totalled 110,828 tonnes, up 19 percent from the same period in 2005.

During the same period, chilled and frozen beef exports reached 27,836 tonnes and 82,992 tonnes respectively. This represented an on-year increase of 81 percent and 7 percent respectively.

In particular, beef exports to Russia totalled 6,855 tonnes during the first four months this year, up 726 percent on-year.
