Taiwanese farm affected by massive chicken deaths
A Taiwanese poultry farm is experiencing unexplainable deaths of 3,250 chickens for the last few days.
The scene is a poultry farm in the largely agricultural Yunlin County, on the western seaboard of Taiwan. The Council of Agriculture's Animal Health and Research Institute is investigating the deaths and hopes to present results soon on what is killing the birds on this farm.
The possibility that the deaths were caused by H5N2 infection is unknown for the moment, according to statements released by the COA's Bureau of Animal Health & Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine and the Yunlin County government.
The farm has a total of 18,000 chickens.
