China's April soy imports total 4.88 million tonnes

Last month, China bought 4.88 million tonnes of soy overseas, an increase of 26% from the same period of 2011, based on the latest data given by the General Administration of Customs on Thursday (May 10).

The soy imports last month increased slightly from 4.83 million tonnes a month earlier.

This figure is sharply lower than the earlier forecast of 5.63 million tonnes made by the Ministry of Commerce.
