Russia's spring planting rates surpass 2011 by 35%

 

 

Russian agrarians already planted spring crops over the areas of 15.2 million hectares (30%), 4.1 million hectares higher compared with 2011, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation in formed.

 

At the same time, they also keep on resowing the dried winter crops areas.

 

In particular, agrarians planted spring wheat throughout 12% of the forecasted areas, barley - 55%, corn - 60%, rice - 32.7%, sugar beet - 76%, sunflower seed - 34%, rapeseed - 30%, soy - 17%, flaxseed - 7%.

 

Krasnodar and Stavropol Krais, Rostov, Belgorod oblasts are close to completion of the planting works.
