Ukraine sows spring grains over 8.08 million hectares

 

 

Ukraine sowed spring grains and leguminous crops in the areas of 8.08 million hectares, or 91% of the plan, as of May 10, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reported.

 

Agrarians planted corn for grain throughout nearly 4.02 million hectares (90%) of the planned areas of 4.44 million ha.

 

Agrarians planted sorghum throughout 93.6 thsd hectares (51% of the plan), buckwheat - 128.3 thsd hectares (45%) and millet - 110,000 hectares (47%).

 

Besides, soy planted areas reached the level of 1.024 million ha, or 79% of the plan.

 

Agrarians planted sunflower seed throughout 3.5 million ha, or 87% of the planned areas from the general forecast of four million hectares.

 

Agrarians already provided re-planting of perished winter grain areas with spring crops throughout 1.057 million hectares, or 67% of the forecast. In particular, agrarians re-planted spring grains throughout 887,000 hectares, including barley - 435,000 hectares, corn - 349,000 hectares, sorghum - 31,000 hectares, other spring crops - 170,000 hectares.
