Ukrainian grain traders to start exporting corn
The restriction on corn exports from Ukraine has been lifted, with local grain traders preparing to launch deliveries abroad.
From May 5, the export of corn from Ukraine can be freely carried out. According to experts, traders will be able to begin shipments in a few days.
The Nibulon company, which has been the largest exporter at the end of last season, expects to start exporting in the near future.
"In particular, a vessel charter requires some temporary costs," explains the head of Nibulon foreign trade department Valeriy Kunytsky.
In 2010, Ukraine harvested about 12 million tonnes of corn, of which only about 3.5 million tonnes were exported. According to expert estimates, at least the same volume can still be exported without harm to the domestic market.
As UKRINFORM reported, the abolition of export quotas for other crops the government may consider on May 15-20.
