Phode, a company specialising in olfaction and nutrition, has introduced VeO, a unique complex developed to optimise feed intake and stress management in livestock.
VeO is the result of 12 years of research and development in Phode's laboratories. The product is at the core of Phode's range of sensory feed additives - Phoderush, Oleobiotec and Cristalfeed Intech.
Phode's research is dedicated to a better understanding of the effects that olfactory molecules can exert on the emotions, behaviour and well-being of living species. To develop a unique range of sensory feed additives, Phode scientists formulated a combination of aromatic compounds that have been authorised in Europe.
Scientific studies are being conducted on various species in order to evaluate and better understand the effects of VéO on appetite, feed loyalty, as well as stress management. The studies indicate that VéO could modulate the transmission of messages within the central nervous system, in particular within the centres involved in the regulation of stress and satiety.
VeO can be said to trigger positive effects within these centres, influencing the animal's physiological state and behaviour. Thus, by improving the animals' well-being, VéO can be said to favour voluntary feed intake and lead to feed loyalty.
Products based on VeO enhance feed consumption and feed efficiency in dairy and beef cattle, and optimises feed intake in lactating sows. In poultry production, the product could reduce the impact of stress factors and improve feed intake.
VéO will also create a positive and unique sensory experience that will imprint onto the animal's memory, inducing feed loyalty.
Phode develops, produces and distributes innovative solutions for animal nutrition, the environment and the food industry. Based in Albi, in the South-West of France, Phode has 49 co-workers and operates in over 20 countries through a network of local distributors and research partners.
