Pancosma introduces XTRACT 6930 as AGP alternative, launches XTRACT Instant

Press release

Pancosma's XTRACT 6930 alone or in combination with fumaric acid, has been found to be a valid alternative to antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs) following a trial in the Netherlands comparing the performance of turkeys fed diets without AGPs to those containing the product, the company claims in its latest press release on the study.

XTRACT is a Pancosma plant extract product developed for monogastric animals. Plant extracts are standardised products characterised by a number of activities, such as stimulation of appetite, secretion of endogenous enzymes, immuno-stimulation and antimicrobial actions.

According to Pancosma, the trial results showed that XTRACT could improve growth even without the use of an AGP, and some parameters could be improved by a combination with fumaric acid at a decreasing dosage with age.

The improvements in performance can be seen from 0 to 27 days due to a higher feed intake and on days 28 to 84 as better digestion linked to a decrease in FCR, which led Pancosma to its conclusion.

With the removal of antibiotic growth promoters in the EU, XTRACT has demonstrated its efficacy in many different nutrition programmes, especially with young animals such as calves and piglets, Pancosma said.

XTRACT 6930 is also available now in a soluble form -- XTRACT Instant, which is particularly suitable for use in milk replacers, liquid feed and drinking water systems for calves, pigs and poultry, the company announced.

Pancosma added that the new product has already been proven in automatic calf milk replacer systems, and offers the livestock producer increased flexibility and more opportunities to administer this nutrition concept.
