EU imposes more controls as fresh outbreaks of swine fever hits Germany

The European Commission is imposing pig movement controls and precautionary measures in Muenster, and Duesseldorf, in the North-Rhine Westphalia following a fresh outbreak of swine fever in Germany.

Pig movements have been suspended in affected regions for at least 10 days.

A three-kilometre protection zone has been established around the outbreak area, and disease control measures, including culling and disinfection, are being carried out.

This new situation will not change measures for the other previously affected areas as they have already been subject to stringent movement restrictions and controls for several weeks.
