US pork net sales reached 9,600 tonnes for 2013, an increase of 20% from last week's report of 8,000 tonnes as shown by the USDA's US Export Sales report.

Primary destinations for pork included Mexico (1,700 tonnes), Australia (1,600 tonnes), South Korea (1,500 tonnes), Canada (900 tonnes), and Hong Kong (700 tonnes).

Exports of 11,000 tonnes were primarily to Mexico (3,500 tonnes), Australia (1,600 tonnes), Canada (1,300 tonnes), Japan (1,300 tonnes), and Honduras (700 tonnes).

On Wednesday (May 8), optimism about the short-term situation boosted Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) hog futures. Futures were mixed to lower in early Thursday morning activity. June hog futures declined US$0.10 to US$0.92/pound early Thursday morning, while December futures were unchanged at 78.15.
