Ukraine to participate in Qatar's grain terminal construction project
Vitalii Lukianenko, the spokesman for Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, said in Doha that Ukraine is ready to join a grain terminal construction project in Qatar.
Meeting with Azarov the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim al-Thani, said Qatar was planning to create a grain hub to be used as a transfer point of Ukrainian grain crops for further distribution in the Middle East, the spokesman said.
Besides, Qatar has confirmed its intention to invest in barley cultivation in Ukraine for further shipment to Qatar.
The representative of the Qatari government also revealed the Ukrainian delegation the plans for building a railroad in the country.
In turn, Azarov emphasised that Ukraine had a full cycle of production and construction of all items required for operation of railways, and offered Qatar cooperation in this area.
According to Azarov, in 2011 Ukraine upgraded 2,000 kilometres of railroads that indicates this country's capabilities.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Ukraine invites Qatar to participate in the construction of the liquefied natural gas regasification terminal.
Qatar has large reserves of natural gas (14-15% of world reserves), which puts the country in the third place after Russia and Iran.
