Argentina to approve additional corn exports

Argentina will authorise the export of an additional 2.5 million tonnes of 2010/11 corn this week, Deputy Agriculture Secretary Oscar Solis said on Monday (May 9).

Argentina, the world's No. 2 exporter of corn, restricts exports of certain grains and meat to ensure domestic supply as it grapples with high inflation.

The South American country could also authorise the export of an additional 1.5 million tonnes of 2010-11 wheat this month, Solis said.
