Indonesia's PT Perkasa Agung Sejati opens new feed mill

PT Perkasa Agung Sejati (PAS), the largest feed producer in eastern Indonesia, has begun operations of its new feed mill in Makassar Industrial Estate, south Sulawesi in East Indonesia.

The strategic location of the feed mill in eastern Indonesia, in an area of rapid development with cheap transport, will allow the company to better distribute their products throughout the region, says commissioner of PAS, Iwan Subroto.

According to Iwan, in the last five years, the poultry industry has grown strongly with increased demand from the growing population in the province. At present, there are approximately 7.8 million laying hens and 21.8 million broiler chickens. This means there is a strong demand for poultry feed.

Iwan said south Sulawesi is a fertile area, with almost all agricultural seed products thriving and abundant corn. Poultry products are marketed not only in the province but also to southeast Sulawesi, north Sulawesi, east Kalimantan, Maluku, Ambon and Papua.

Currently south Sulawesi requires 600,000 tonnes of animal feed per year and demand is also seen in all provinces in eastern Indonesia, Governor Sulsel, Syahrul Yasin Limpo said.
