Ukraine exports over 18-million-tonne grains
Since the start of the current marketing year (MY July 2011-June 2012), Ukraine already exported 18.38 million tonnes of grains, almost doubled the volume compared with the same date last MY, as of May 7.
According to materials of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, in particular, as of May 7, corn exports increased by 3.3 times - to 11.34 million tonnes, wheat - up 39.2%, to 4.48 million tonnes (including 2.59 million tonnes of milling wheat, and 1.89 million tonnes of feed wheat). At the same time, exports of barley decreased by 2.1% - to 2.4 million tonnes.
During seven days of May, the country exported 0.4 million tonnes of grains, including 0.25 million tonnes of corn, 53.2 thsd tonnes of wheat and 85.6 thsd tonnes of barley.
In April, the export volumes of Ukrainian grains totaled 2.43 million tonnes. In particular, last month Ukraine exported 1.6 million tonnes of corn, 0.64 million tonnes of wheat (0.44 million tonnes of milling wheat and 0.19 million tonnes of feed wheat), and 0.17 million tonnes of barley.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, since the beginning of the current MY, and as of May 7, the exports of oilseeds decreased by 9% compared to the same date last MY - to 2.1 million tonnes. In particular, Ukraine exported 1.1 million tonnes of rapeseed and 1 million tonnes of soybeans. The export volumes of sunflower seed totaled 144 thsd tonnes, while on the same date last MY - 382 thsd tonnes.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy expects for grain exports from Ukraine in May-June of 2012 at the level of 2.2 million tonnes per month.
