USDA to provide estimation on Colorado winter wheat
The USDA is going to give its first official forecast of the Colorado winter wheat harvest for this year by this week.
Some wheat farmers in eastern Colorado have had very dry conditions this year. This makes it unlikely that Colorado will match last year's harvest of nearly 106 million bushels of winter wheat.
The 10-year average for Colorado is about 67 million bushels.
The USDA estimate is due to be released Wednesday (May 11).
