Australia secures rail transport for 2008 grain harvest
The Australian government recently assured that an agreement has been reached to secure the rail transport of this year's grain harvest.
The government has announced that branch lines will continue to operate until June 30, 2009.
NSW Farmers'Association president Jock Laurie said the announcement is vital to the ongoing future of grain growers across New South Wales.
Furthermore, Laurie said that the association also wants an assurance that Australian growers have fair and equitable access to rail, up-country storage and port facilities, under the deal.
