South Africa's 2007/08 corn imports rise to 33,731 tonnes
South Africa's yellow corn imports for the 2007/08 season started at 33,731 tonnes, the South African Grain Information Service (SAGIS) showed in its weekly report.
Last season, South Africa--Africa's biggest corn producer--imported a total of 915,142 tonnes of yellow corn.
Exports started the season with a hefty 4,180 tonnes.
Wheat imports since October last year rose by 27,570 tonnes to 304,844 tonnes last week, SAGIS showed.
Exports rose by 3,791 tonnes to 126,175 tonnes.
