Guangdong City imports corn on China's feed import ease

For the first time, the Guangdong city of Zhuhai imported corn, taking advantage of China's policy to relax import for processing of feeds.

In early May, a major feed processing company based in Gaolan Economic Zone, Zhuhai imported 4,370 tonnes of corn directly from Thailand. The corn will be processed as feeds.

The import was made possible as China has been relaxing restrictions on corn import so as to speed up the development of the feed processing business. To make sure that hazardous materials and harmful insects are not also imported, Zhuhai has set up a special inspection and quarantine unit to check the corn.
