US exporters sell 356,000 tonnes corn to Mexico, South Korea
US private exporters announced the sale of 356,000 tonnes of corn to Mexico and South Korea and 120,000 tonnes of US soy to an unidentified buyer, the USDA said on Friday (May 4).
All of the sales were for delivery in the 2012/13 marketing year, which opens on September 1.
They included 240,000 tonnes of optional origin corn to Mexico, meaning the corn could be US-grown or from one or more other countries and 116,000 tonnes to South Korea.
The soy was sold to unknown destinations.
By law, exporters must report promptly the sale of 100,000 tonnes or more of a commodity to the same destination in one day but it sometimes can take a couple of days before the identity of a buyer becomes known. Sales of smaller amounts are reported on a weekly basis.
