US beef and pork popular in Taipei show
US beef and pork received favourable response at a gourmet show in Taipei despite news reports of a ban imposed on a US beef company. Taiwanese authorities imposed a ban because of bone fragments found in its meat, which violated conditions the company previously agreed on.
US beef and pork were showcased at the fourth annual IKEA Gourmet Taipei International Food & Wine Festival in Taipei which attracted more than 100,000 visitors.
The timing is perfect for promoting short ribs, short plate and chuck flap, as the items are now very affordable due to the fact that the South Korean market remains closed to US beef, said Alex Sun, USMEF customer service assistant manager.
Three US beef cuts - short ribs, short plate, and chuck flap were promoted by the USMEF at the show, where some 3,500 people visited the USMEF booths to taste samples.
