Russia Jan-Mar meat imports down 38.8 percent
Russia's meat imports in the first two months of the year fell 38.8 percent on-year to 184,400 tonnes, news agency Prime-Tass reported Wednesday (May 6), citing the Federal Customs Service.
In monetary terms, imports fell to $609.7 million from $778.9 million a year earlier, the service said.
Russia's poultry imports fell 37.8 percent on the year to 147,400 tonnes in physical terms and fell to $158.7 million from $201.7 million in monetary terms in the period. Fish imports decreased to 228,400 tonnes worth $306.5 million from 237,200 tonnes worth $371.9 million, the service said.
In 2008, Russia's meat imports rose 14.2 percent on the year to 1.619 million tonnes, the service said earlier.
