Poultry market shows improvement in the Netherlands
Although a rise in consumption has led to higher chicken prices in the Netherlands, the EU's largest chicken producer, farmers' incomes have not increased due to higher input costs.
However, the market is seen to be stabilized after low demand led to a 1-percent fall in production in 2006. This compares with a 3-percent decline in the EU-25.
Lower production is expected to remain in the coming months but overall production is expected to increase 1.5 percent in 2007.
