Chinese agri group invests US$36.6 million in poultry plant

Hubei Province Tong Xing Agricultural Co., Ltd. kick-starts the construction of a chicken production and processing plant, worth RMB250 million (US$36.6 million) in Suizhou, Hubei.

The chicken plant will support the running of three production lines that slaughter 100,000 chickens daily.

A cold storage with capacity of 5,000 tonnes of chicken meat, and a production line with a daily processing capacity of 150 tonnes of cooked meat will be established.

The entire project is expected to be completed in May 2011 when 100 million chickens can be processed each year, producing 50,000 tonnes of cooked chicken products. It is expected to generate production value of RMB3 billion (US$439.2 million) and create 6,000 new jobs.
