China's Zhanjiang Guolian Aquatic Products Co Ltd, a leading aquatic product company in China that integrates fish hatcheries, farming, feedstock production, processing, scientific research and trading, signed an annual supply order worth US$50 million with US-based Darden Restaurants Inc, according to report from Zhanjiang Daily.

Zhanjiang Guolian Aquatic Products Co Ltd will provide high-end deep-processed shrimp products to Darden Restaurants, with four shrimp products specifically customised for Darden after six months of research.

The global economic downturn has prompted industrial insiders to estimate that China's prawn exports will fall 20 percent year-on-year in 2009.

Darden Restaurants, headquartered in Orlando, US, achieves US$6.7 billion in annual sales and operates more than 1,700 restaurants in the US.
