Viterra opens new marketing office in Montreal
Press Release
Viterra Inc. has announced the opening of a new merchandising office in Montreal, Quebec, further strengthening its presence in Eastern Canada.
The office, which opened May 2, 2011, will perform several strategic functions, and increase Viterra's ability to source and market food ingredients to key destination markets in Canada, the US and Europe.
"Our office in Montreal will play a central role in managing trade flows, freight activities and arbitrage opportunities, facilitating the efficient movement of grain and oilseeds through our value-added pipeline. We look forward to working with local producers and commercial suppliers as we continue building on our core strengths as a leading global supplier of quality food ingredients," said Kyle Jeworski, Viterra's Vice-President, Grain Merchandising & Transportation, North American Grain.
The announcement follows Viterra's definitive agreement, signed April 21, 2011, with the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) to lease and operate the MPA Grain Terminal. Viterra will assume full operation of the terminal on July 1, 2011.
The MPA Grain Terminal is a Canadian Grain Commission licensed transfer elevator which operates year round and has a storage capacity of 262,000 tonnes. The terminal is located in the deepest inland seaport in North America and has direct access to both CN and CP rail networks. It also provides direct shipping routes to various destinations in Canada, the US and Europe.
