Vietnam To Cull Unquarantined Poultry
Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City will seize and cull poultry if it they are not quarantined.
The municipal steering committee on bird flu control ordered an end to the trading of live poultry at markets in districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11 and Phu Nhuan. Traders in the markets can only sell packed processed poultry with a clear trademark and date of processing.
Live poultry trading is allowed only in the surrounding and suburban markets. A list of the possible markets will be announced later.
Many markets in the inner city have been trading and slaughtering live poultry.
