Ukraine sees 2.2 million tonnes monthly export

Ukraine's Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food projects the country's export rates of grains at 2.2 million tonnes per month in May and June of the present year.

The Ministry plans to reach such volumes of exports, in order to free storage capacities for the new crop, and support flowing of these funds to agrarians, said Nikolai Prysiazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, on May 3.

According to him, since the beginning of MY (July 2011 - June 2012), the country already exported 17.8 million tonnes of grains, including 4.4 million tonnes of wheat (including 2.5 million tonnes of milling wheat), 2.3 million tonnes of barley, 11 million tonnes of corn.

Taking into account the export volumes of grain by-products, the current export volumes of grains are estimated at the level of 18.3 million tonnes, said the Minister.

In 2011 Ukraine produced 56.7 million tonnes of grains, up 44.3% compared to the results in 2010. Experts estimate the domestic consumption of grains at the level of 26.7 million tonnes per year.
