Brazilian pork exports decrease in March

 

 

Brazilian pork export quantity in March was more than 11% less than last March and the value of those exports also decreased marginally in US dollar terms.

 

According to Brazilian Pork Industry and Exporter Association, Brazil exported 44,299 tonnes of pork in March 2011, which is 11.6% less than the same month last year. The average price per tonne was US$2,652 and it was 11.2% more than one year ago. The value of March's sales was almost US$117.5 million, which is 1.7% less than in March 2010.

 

For the year to date, the volume exported was 118,168 tonnes, 5.8% below the equivalent figure for 2010. The value of those exports is up 5.9% at almost US$311.1 million. The average price is US$2,632 per tonne, which is 12.4% above that of one year ago.
