Czech Republic's Q1 poultry meat output falls 12%
Czech Republic's poultry meat output totaled 38,407 tonnes in the first quarter, 12% lower as compared with the same period of the previous year, according to the Czech Statistical Office (CSU).
Local prices for chicken for slaughter in the Q1 2011 period increased 5.8% at can average price of CZK21.27 (US$1.3) per kg (live weight).
Live poultry imports grew by 405 (to 1,834 tonnes) and exports by 17.8% (to 8,058 tonnes). Slovakia has exported most live poultry at 62% with Germany at 37%; exports to Poland, Germany and Slovakia were at 40%, 37% and 18%, respectively.
Meanwhile, poultry meat imports totalled to 20,381 tonnes (of which 37% came from Poland, 18% from Brazil, 11% from Germany, and 11% from Slovakia), whereas exports reached 5,571 tonnes (of which 50% were sent to Slovakia, 16% to the Netherlands, and 10% to Germany).
According to the CSU, the Czech poultry flock as of December 31, 2010 totalled to 24,073 heads, up 0.5% on-year.
