Lithuania's dairy imports show increase

 

 

Lithuania's dairy companies imported 13,730 tonnes of milk from Latvia in March, an increase of 31.6% from 10,430 tonnes last year, according to the Agricultural Information and Rural Business Centre.

 

The average cost of Latvian milk jumped by 22.7% on-year to LTL1,141.55 (US$489) per tonne.

 

In March, milk imports from Latvia rose by 10%, with the purchase price increasing by 1.8%.

 

Lithuania's total milk imports from EU countries in March were 18,830 tonnes, an increase of 30.7% on-year and 10.1% on-month. The average purchase price rose by 22.4% and 2.4%, respectively, to LTL1,152.6 (US$494) per tonne.

 

Lithuanian companies import raw milk from Latvia, Estonia, and occasionally, Poland.
