Myanmar remains free from H1N1 influenza
There has been so far no case of A/H1N1 influenza infected to pigs in Myanmar, a statement of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries (MLF) said on Friday (May 1).
As part of its preventive measures against outbreak of A/H1N1 influenza in pigs of Myanmar, immediately after receiving the news about the outbreak in humans in Mexico, MLF released warning to different levels of its related departments across the country with officials making field trips to check the health condition of animals at pig farms, performing the surveillance of virus and raising biosecurity.
According to the ministry, A/H1N1 influenza has spread to 27 countries since April 17 infecting so far 2,962 people and killing at least 160.
According to a news release from World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), there has been no case of H1N1 virus in pigs in the regions where A/H1N1 influenza breaks out in humans.
