Vietnam's largest catfish exporter, Agrifish Wednesday (May 3) began construction of its fifth frozen seafood processing factory. The factory would cost VND100 billion (US$6.2 million) in southern An Giang Province.
The factory, is on a 2ha-site in the Binh Duc ward, and would be equipped to process 150 tonnes of fish per day, bringing the company's total capacity to 100,000 tonnes.
The factory is expected to provide 2,000 jobs when it is completed next year.
Agrifish exports 2,000 tonnes of frozen tra and basa catfish every month to the EU, Asian countries and the US.
The company established the Agrifish Bio-Pangasius Union last September together with other processors and suppliers to breed catfish that meet international food safety norms.
