India's NECC Buys Corn For Poultry Farmers
The National Egg Co-Ordination Committee (NECC) has procured corn for allotment to poultry farmers at Rs 50 per quintal less than the current market price.
In spite of an increase in production, the maize prices were presently high as traders were holding on to stocks. NECC stated this in a press release here.
In addition, corn prices are ruling high since export enquiries are on the rise. After a long absence, the country has started to export corn again, mainly to Far-East and South-East Asian countries.
Corn exports are expected to reach 10 lakh tonnes. About three lakh tonnes have already been shipped out of the country.
