Poor buying interest softens China methionine prices

Prices of methionine continued to reduce during the week ending April 30.

Broiler feed production shrank as the bird flu epidemic dampened the confidence of poultry farmers, who hastened releases on the one hand and held back chick procurements on the other hand. This resulted in limited usages of methionine and hence poor buying interest.

Price quotes of imported dl-methionine slid to RMB28.40-28.70/kg.

Prices will continue to stay at record-low levels.
