Russia bans meat imports from meat plants in 3 countries

Russian veterinary authorities Rosselkhoznadzor has banned imports of meat from Brazilian, German and US meat plants, citing salmonella contamination.

The ban on exports starts on Thursday this week, following the discovery of salmonella in more that 50 tonnes of poultry meat from Brazil, around 25 tonnes of poultry meat from the US and around 17 tonnes of pork skins from Germany.

Rosselkhoznadzor urged food safety authorities to monitor the salmonella levels in their food exports.
