Pig & Poultry Focus Asia 2006 a success

Press release

The recently held Pig & Poultry Focus Asia 2006 exceeded even its organisers' optimistic forecasts with some 525 delegates from almost 30 countries. The event which was held in Bangkok, Thailand, had almost 30 percent of its attendees from Thailand and over 70 percent came from other countries including Europe, Canada, the USA and Brazil.

Over 50 speakers of international standing addressed a whole range of nutritional, health, breeding and management topics, and in so doing brought delegates up to date with the latest thinking and developments in their respective fields. In the joint opening session, Alec Kyriakides of the British supermarket group J Sainsbury Plc and Erich Erber of Biomin respectively addressed the key issues of end product and animal feed safety. After this, delegates split up and attended either Poultry Focus Asia 2006 or Pig Focus Asia 2006.

The pig programme had strong inputs on breeding, artificial insemination and health, while the poultry programme had key sessions on avian influenza and product safety. Both programmes generated a lot of interest and questions, and lively discussions ensued.

Delegates also had a conference networking dinner where they enjoyed Thai cuisine and culture, as well as many networking opportunities.

"Feedback from the delegates was fantastic," said Kornkamol Srinaruemol of co-organisers NCC Exhibition Organizer Co. Ltd. of Thailand. "They really appreciated a topical, technical, quality programme that focused on the issues of the day."

Nigel Horrox of co-organiser Positive Action Publications Ltd. of the UK, added, "The glowing comments we received from delegates about Pig & Poultry Focus Asia 2006 have given us all great heart to prepare an even better event with Pig & Poultry Focus Asia 2008, which will be held in the first half of 2008 and will again be held in Bangkok, Thailand."

Full details of Pig & Poultry Focus Asia 2008 will be announced later this year, but the event will be held in Bangkok in early 2008.
