Argentina poultry exports grow 58 percent in value for Q1 2008
Argentine exports of poultry meat reached US$59.75 million for the first quarter of the year, according to figures released by the National Service for Health and Agro-alimentary Quality (Senasa).
The shipments of 40,140 tonnes showed a 24 per cent growth in volume and a 58 per cent growth in value, compared to the same period last year.
Shipments of whole birds and portions rose 35 percent, with 26,706 tonnes worth US$42.5 million shipped.
Main destinations were Chile, South Africa, The Netherlands, Venezuela, Germany, Saudi Arabia, the UK and Greece.
Exporters also saw a 10-percent rise in exports of by-products, mainly to China, Hong Kong and Vietnam.
However, exports of processed chicken products fell 19 percent.
