Australia's Queensland sets up AUS$5 million aquaculture research station
The provincial government of Queensland in Australia is granting AUS$5 million (US$4.69 million) for the building of the Bribie Island aquaculture research station.
Queensland's Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries will carry out the development, which will include a state-of-the-art aquarium. The facility will also include two temperature controlled experimental rooms, a walk-in freezer and a quarantine area and other features to ensure bio-security.
The redevelopment will complement other state government knowledge-based research and business projects, according to Tim Mulherin, minister of primary industries and fisheries.
