Shandong Liuhe Group invests in new meat cold storage plant

China's Shandong Liuhe Group has inked an agreement with Shandong's Cao County for a new meat chilling and cold storage plant.

According to a Liuhe Group's spokesman, Liuhe Group has seen a rapid expansion of its poultry meat processing business. The company slaughtered 200 million poultry in 2006. Markets for Liuhe can be found all across in China except Xinjiang and is expanding rapidly in Shanghai, Wuhan and Beijing. The group was named one of the National Food Safety Brands and named one of the Top 50 National Meat Processing Companies. It is also one of the larger poultry products suppliers in the country.

Cheng Chuanzheng, the county secretary, said the Cao county is one known for animal production and would continue to focus on efforts to develop this industry. The entry of Liuhe into the county would not only provide a buyer for its duck products but would benefit the county's animal husbandry technology and provide wealth-creation opportunities for local farmers. Local authorities would continue to provide support to the farmers and bring about development in the animal husbandry sector, Cheng added.
