Brazil's Sadia may build second overseas processing plant

Brazilian largest meat processor Sadia may build its second meat processing plant abroad, the company's president, Gilberto Tomazoni, said on April 26, 2007.

The location has not been decided but construction would start once Sadia finishes its first overseas processing plant in Russia. The company would then be able to apply the knowledge gleaned from its Russian project in the new investment.

Sadia has already invested US$24 million in a US$78 million joint venture with a Russian company. The Russian company would control 40 percent of the venture.

Sadia is targeting new markets in Russia closed to Brazilian exports due to disease concerns.
