Poultry, cattle diseases reappear in several Vietnamese provinces
                              


Poultry and cattle diseases have recurred in several provinces in Vietnam after several months being put under control, warned the Department of Animal Health (DAH) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

 

DAH said bird flu has broken out in central Thanh Hoa and Quang Ngai province.

 

Localities nationwide have carried out the first phase of bird flu vaccination programme in 2009, with total inoculated poultry of 57.7 million, including 36.1 million ducks and 21.6 million chickens.

 

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) has broken out in central Ha Tinh province, affecting one buffalo and 8 cows in Hoa Hai commune, Huong Khe district, while in central highlands Gia Lai province, FMD has affected 17 cows in Nhon Hoa town, Chu Se district, and still remains in Son La province.

 

Blue-ear disease has appeared in northern Hung Yen province since March 18, killing 161 pigs out of total flock of 212 in Van Giang town, Van Giang district. The porcine disease is remaining in central highlands Gia Lai province.
