Vietnam's seafood trade surges 8 percent
Vietnam estimates its seafood exports to climb 8.4 percent on-year in the first four months of 2008, valued at US$1.1 billion.
In April, Vietnam targeted total revenue of US$300 million from seafood exports, specifically shrimp and catfish, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers said Tuesday.
The country has recently boosted seafood shipments to key markets such as China, US, EU and Japan.
Newly acquired markets include the Middle East, East Europe, Africa and South America.
Vietnam is intensifying its trade promotion, and enhancing its capacity of forecasting seafood prices and export demand, said the association.
This year, Vietnam is aiming to earn around US$4.3 billion dollars from seafood exports.
