Russia bans meat from some exporters in US, Brazil, Germany
The Russian veterinary watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor has imposed a ban on meat and meat products from several meat plants in the US, Brazil and Germany starting May 3 after salmonella was discovered in its recent shipments.
Rosselkhoznadzor said a 25.4-tonne of poultry backs from the US, two shipments of poultry meat from Brazil with volumes of 24.9 and 25.9 tonnes, and 16.9 tonnes of pork skins from Germany were restricted entry into Russia.
Rosselkhoznadzor banned imports of products from the US meat processing factory P-19128, Brazilian factories SIF 1797 and SIF 601, and the German factory D SH-EUZ 10 EWG. Rosselkhoznadzor urged the US, Brazilian, and German veterinary services to investigate the infection of products from these factories exported to Russia with salmonellas.
