Japan's largest supermarket resumes sales of US beef
Aeon Co, Japan's largest supermarket chain, announced it will resume sales of US beef from Nebraska-based Premium Protein Products.
This follows a four-year ban caused by the discovery of BSE in the US in 2003.
The first shipment was about 20 tonnes, according to Aeon.
According to Premium Protein Products CEO Steve Sands, Aeon inspected their facilities, feedlots and suppliers before reaching a decision.
Beef from Premium Protein Products will be sold in about 470 stores throughout Japan.
