Taiwan poultry may re-enter US soon

Taiwan may become the first Asian region to export poultry products to the United States. Technicians from the US Department of Agriculture were sent to Taiwan a week ago to inspect poultry production and review current law that need to be revised to meet American standards.

In their report they listed several areas that needed improvement, and the need for both a veterinarian and a representative from the Department of Health to be stationed in all processing plants

Poultry businesses in Taiwan said once an export system to the US is in place, the potential for the sale of frozen meat products and the processing industry will be considerable. Currently, only six countries are allowed to ship poultry to the US.
