Sharp Rise in Lysine Exports of Global Bio-Chem Technology Group Co Ltd

An eFeedLink Exclusive Report

In the 1st quarter of 2004, corn-processed products in Jilin province of China showed a rapid rise in exports. According to statistics by the Customs, lysine exports from Jilin province amounted to 4,889 tons in the 1st quarter of 2004. This is an increase of 19.9 times compared with the same period last year. In particular, the export value of lysine accounted for 70% of corn-processed agricultural products from the province. Lysine is now the second major export of Jilin province.

Corn export from Jilin province has been affected by China's export policies. In the first 3 months of 2004, corn exports from Jilin were recorded at merely 768,000 tons, a fall of 68% compared with the same period last year. However the export of lysine, which is extracted through processing of corn, continued to grow.

Lysine exports of China's Global Biochemical show sharp growth in 1st quarter of 2004. Located in Jilin province, China's Global Bio-Chem Technology Group Co Ltd is a leading local lysine producer in China. The company used to export less than 10 tons of lysine every month. However, driven by the big market demand, the company has been exporting more than 1,000 tons of lysine each month since October 2003. With limited technological capability for corn processing in Jilin, China's Global Bio-Chem Technology Group Co Ltd is presently the only producer that exports lysine in the province.
