China, Denmark seal five agreements on food products, agriculture
China and Denmark have sealed five agreements on food products and agriculture, during Queen of Denmark Margrethe II's state visit to China, CCTV reports.
Those agreements focus on Danish food imports like poultry, cooked pork as well as dairy products. Denmark has now become the first country that has China has allowed to export cooked pork products to, including Danish weiners. The country will also increase export volume of dairy products.
Denmark's food and agriculture minister, Dan Jørgensen, said that the agreements will allow for 250 million kroner (US$46.3 million) worth of exports.
The country's dairy production association is comprised of 34 companies nationwide, with an annual production of 500,000 tonnes. Denmark has a total population of five million, however, less than 2% of them are engaged in the farming industry. Two-thirds of their annual agriculture production is export-oriented, meeting the demands of 15 million people.
China and Denmark have decided to work together in pork production, and will set up more demonstration projects to maintain long-term cooperation.
