Norway's Nordfjord Kjøtt to invest in freezing plant
Norwegian meat company Nordfjord Kjøtt has announced plans to invest in a freezing plant at its production facilities in Loen, south east of Ålesund, within a few years from now, which will help open the country's meat exports to Europe.
At present, Nordfjord Kjøtt only sells its products via the grocery chain Rema 1000, where it dominates the country's meat sales. Rema 1000 represented over 20% of the total food retail sales in Norway in 2010.
The company has kept a high operating margin of about 10% for many years, which it refers to a focus on efficiency, both in production, logistics and distribution.
