Thailand to discuss pork pricing measures
Thailand's Department of Internal Trade (DIT), Ministry of Commerce (MOC) on Thursday (April 24) called on the pig raisers association to discuss pricing measures after the price of pork currently surged to THB130 (US$35.19) per kilogramme.
DIT director general Yunyong Puanrat stated that the department had received complaints about exorbitantly high pork prices and urged pig farmers and retail merchants to discuss pricing issues in an effort to provide justice to customers.
Puanrat said merchants claimed that the increase in prices was in line with higher costs of pork from slaughterhouses and middlemen and as a consequence of ongoing economic crisis.
