China reports no swine flu but government assures to safeguard public

China will strictly guard against swine flu and protect the health and safety of the public, the State Council said Tuesday (April 27), adding that no humans or pigs in China have been detected with the virus.

"The epidemic is still developing in some countries, the cases are gradually increasing and the areas affected continue to grow. We don't rule out the possibility of its introduction into China," China's highest executive body said in a statement posted on the central government's Web site, following a meeting Tuesday that was chaired by China Premier Wen Jiabao.
